Solential: The MaschHoffs

Purpose:

Get: Livestock + grain farmers
Who: Are suffering under high energy costs
To: Consider adding solar to their energy mix
By: Showing why one of the largest U.S. pork producers adopted solar energy

The Idea:

The Masschoffs are among the largest pork producers in America. Like many livestock and grain producers, spiraling energy costs were making it difficult to be profitable. Solential was tapped to design, install, and manage a major solar array at one of The Masschoffs’ grain mills in Southern Illinois. Not only was it a first for this family-run business, but it was also the first solar-powered grain mill in America, providing affordable feed to millions of pigs. That’s a lot of bacon!

As Solential’s fractional marketing director, Lux chronicled the Masschoffs’ project from groundbreaking to ribbon cutting to post event blogs, a case study, videos, and PR. The project gained tremendous attention for both the Maschhoffs and Solential, who used it to establish itself in agriculture circles but also increased overall brand awareness due to the novelty of the project. The case study was created to provide a quick snapshot of the project for use at trade shows and one-on-one meetings. The drone video was a hit on social media.
