Triplepoint: DeSoto Case Study
Purpose:
Get: Wastewater treatment plant operators
Who: Have plants in northern climates + struggle with mandates on ammonia removal from the water in sub-zero temperatures
To: Partner with Triplepoint, the leader in lagoon-based wastewater treatment
By: Showcasing the lagoon system of DeSoto, Iowa – really cold place
The Idea:
Wastewater treatment plants are subject to strict government regulations to ensure only properly treated water is discharged into U.S. waterways. Treatment plants in northern climates are challenged by snow, ice, and frigid temperatures to comply. The DeSoto, Iowa, Public Works Department is a prime example. In winter months, it’s not unusual for its lagoons to freeze, making it impossible to achieve ammonia limits and thus having to pay steep fines. Compliance requires heating the lagoon water, a massive expense.
DeSoto Public Works called in Triplepoint Environmental for a solution. Triplepoint recommended its NitrOx System, which enabled DeSoto to achieve 100 percent ammonia removal through the winter without heating its lagoons. Based on this success, DeSoto did a case study with Triplepoint with Lux as the writer. Forging a quick bond with Dan Vanlangen over his German shorthair pointer Andie, she crafted an informative and entertaining case study for marketing use.
Triplepoint asked that the story be pitched to Treatment Plant Operator (TPO) magazine, which picked it up as a full-length feature. Bonus! Enjoy the story.
